Hurrication

Well, thanks to Hurricane Ike I have been abe to help out and do manual labor around my house so the reception looks awesome. Since I am teaching in Baytown and that area was hit pretty hard, I am randomly not working for two weeks. I am very curious to get back to school and see how everyone is doing, in the mean time it has been nice, well as nice as manual labor can be, to get everything ready.
But some nice additions will be the new rock formation and some conrete pathways and lots of flowers. So I am excited to have family and friends in town to celebrate Jon and I getting married! I am getting excited slash ready for it all to be said and done so we can be married already!
One note of non-awesomeness:
Getting chigger bites from moving trees = not awesome!

The Beginning as Told by Jen

As usual Jon likes to tell a story with a slight touch of narcissism. Big surprise. (That's right Jon, you just got served.) The first time I noticed Jon was when I knew...that he liked to beat girls at anything. We both were drawing the same picture on the board in Sunday School and I drew a stick figure while Jon's drawing invloved proportionate muscles and such. He won.

So one random day I get a phone call from a number I did not know. Luckily, I picked it up, as this is not a usual practice of mine. What can I say, I don't like crazy people or telemarketers. On the other end was one Jon Martin and after reassuring him that I remembered who he was, he proceded to ask me out. Of course I was busy. I'm awesome.

So I let him know I wasn't busy on a different day. Again, I'm awesome. Apparently, I like stalker phone calls and crappy movies because here we are...counting down until October and having lots of fun together!

The Beginning as Told by Jon

We thought it would be appropriate to start our blog by telling the story of how we met and started dating. Anyone who knows us will know that we strive diligently to avoid cheesiness, but given the circumstances (pending nuptuals) once won't kill us, or you.

Our stories differ because for some reason she seems to think I was a wimpy chicken afraid to get her number... So, maybe that's a little true, but why should I go to all that trouble to get a number that is available at the click of a mouse?

I noticed Jen one of my first Sundays in the local Singles Ward when she walked by me in the hallway and flashed her cute smile and gorgeous blue eyes. At that moment I decided I was going to get to know that girl...So what if it took me a few months, I'm all about results! We had a few conversations here and there, but I never found myself in a position to request her telefonal digits, so I took the easy way out and asked her out via ward directory. I asked her to a Rockets game on Saturday, but she had date with another less awesome guy.

And I quote, "Oh sorry I can't go on Saturday, but I've been wanting your Awesomeness to ask me out for ages now and so please can we go out on Friday instead???!?"

So, we went to a terrible movie on a damp Friday December evening and the rest is history.
